(14th June, 2022) – “If you can Dream It, You can Own It!”. This was the mantra that encapsulated the SOD Turning Ceremony of the Royal Pine Housing Development on Monday morning at the Robert Village site. This project is a vision of the Ramkaran Contracting Services Limited, to create affordable, sustainable housing for aspiring home owners in the community of Robert Village, Tableland in South Trinidad. Tableland is known for its pineapple cultivation, and according to Mrs. Patries Ramkaran, has the ability and potential to blossom and grow into world-renowned pineapple cultivators similar to the standard of Dole Pineapples in its processing and distribution. She claims, “We intend to collaborate with the pineapple farmers in the area to teach the population of Trinidad and Tobago and extension the rest of the world about the cultivation of pineapples. The knowledge transfer will take place at the Institutional lot.” Similarly, it is an objective of Ramkaran Contracting Services Limited to employ more than 60% of its labour force for this project from the Tableland area.
As such, the team will work closely in collaboration with the community of Tableland, headed by The Member of Parliament for Moruga/ Tableland, The Honourable Michelle Benjamin, who was also in attendance. During her greetings, she thanked the Ramkaran family and has faith that the housing development would bring tremendous benefit for the community and company. Ms. Benjamin acknowledges that the community seems “untouched’ as it is a serene area. Therefore, the concept of the project is remarkable, regarding its environmentally friendly initiatives. “The development is needed because there is a growing population…While persons are being deterred for housing, this project provides a hope to young persons to own a property.”
Similarly, in his exaltation address, Rev. Stephen Mendoza of Revival Missions, encouraged persons to steer to course and create strategies to fulfil their dreams. He states, “In every labour there is profit!” Therefore, you must work and invest to reap your rewards.
The designs of the homes, town houses and apartments of Royal Pine will be modern open concept. Aspiring homeowners will have a choice to choose from 1-3 bedroom designs, each ranging from 500 to 1400 square feet of living. The homes and street lighting will be equipped using Hybrid Solar System. According to Mrs. Ramkaran, this ten (10) acre property will help at least sixty (60) families to walk into their dream of home ownership in this country despite the challenges.
With reference to the United Nations Sustainable Goal 10, Climate Action, it states that “2019 was the second warmest year on record. Carbon Dioxide levels and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Weather Patterns are changing and sea levels rising.” Ramkaran Contracting Services Limited is committed to leave the earth a better place, by designing this project to reduce the impact of pollution and use clean energy. They are happy to support UN Sustainable goal 13-climate change.
Mrs. Patries Ramkaran encourages young home owners especially, that “any dream you want in this world is possible, but you have to believe and do what is necessary and take the necessary steps.” She states, by example, that while her company went through the “No’s” and challenges along the way, that did not mean that she gave up, neither should you. You must persevere!
